Attic Floor Installation

Attic floor installation is often the easiest method when roof rafter access is difficult. The radiant barrier is unrolled over existing insulation along the ceiling joists.

Recommended product: Laser Perforated (LP), especially where the attic assembly needs to breathe.

Installation approach

  1. Unroll material over existing insulation along the ceiling joists.
  2. Trim around bracing and penetrations.
  3. Staple periodically to keep the material in place.
  4. Overlap seams by about 3 to 4 inches.

Dust can reduce reflective performance over time, so roof rafter installation is preferred when the space allows it. Floor installation can still be a practical retrofit option.

Laser Perforated (LP) is recommended for this method in most vented assemblies. Select the roll width around the framing spacing and the weight you can comfortably handle during installation.
