New Roof Decking Installation
For new construction or roof deck work, radiant barrier can be installed before decking is fastened. This avoids relying on pre-laminated sheathing where adhesives may affect perforations or create unintended vapor behavior.
Recommended product: Laser Perforated (LP) unless the assembly is intentionally designed as a vapor barrier.
Installation approach
- Drape material over open rafters before decking is installed.
- Allow about 2 inches of sag between rafters to create an air space.
- Staple material in place and overlap seams by about 2 inches.
- Install roof decking over the radiant barrier.
